Only Murders S4: Episode Recap
*WARNING: Spoilers ahead — read at your own risk!*
A mysterious murder strikes the Arconia crew yet again and we couldn’t be more excited about it.
Season 3 ended with Charles’ (Steve Martin) stunt double, Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch), collapsing to her death in his apartment — now these questions remain: Who killed Sazz? And was Charles the actual target?
With the help of a brand new star-studded cast, our favorite true-crime trio tries to crack their trickiest murder mystery yet, all the way from sunny Los Angeles. Can they find Sazz’s killer while making a Hollywood movie about their podcast?
S4, E7: “”
Are you ready for a plot twist? After discovering a major breakthrough in the case that puts the “Westies” in the center of the suspect map — Charles, Oliver, and Mabel team up with the actors for an epic face-to-face encounter where they realize everything is not as it may seem.
S4, E6: “Valley of the Dolls”
After realizing the Season 4 murderer is watching their every step inside the Arconia, the trio seeks refuge in Long Island at Charles’ sister’s house — which turns out to be its own brand of creepy. Emotions run high in this episode: Oliver breaks up with Loretta, Loretta makes a grand gesture in response, Charles’ sister rehashes their past, Bev Melon tells the actors how she really feels, and the true-crime-trio is shocked to learn the killer has been stalking them since Season 1.
S4, E5: “Adaptation”
The trio gets closer to uncovering the murderer, or murderers, behind Sazz’s demise. As the suspect list grows, the trio is forced to face a collection of individuals who deceive and manipulate.
S4, E4: “The Stunt Man”
The trio attempts to retrace Sazz’s steps in her final days. Their search leads them to a local stunt double hangout spot where they encounter someone with a shockingly familiar face.
S4, E3: “Two for the Road”
Charles, Oliver, and Mabel continue their investigation by doubling down on the only lead they have — the odd characters residing in the west wing of the Arconia where the shooter likely took down Sazz. The trio splits up to start investigating with the Hollywood counterparts tagging along.
S4, E2: “Gates of Heaven”
Now that they know what happened to Sazz after her disappearance, Mabel & Oliver begin looking for answers — starting by investigating Arconia’s West Tower. While the pair get trapped inside an ominous game with the neighbors, Charles bunkers down in his apartment where he is visited by two individuals from his past. One visitor is a ghost, while the other is very much alive and supposed to be in jail.
S4, E1: “Once Upon a Time in the West”
Charles, Oliver, and Mabel jet from New York to Los Angeles, where they are wined and dined by a major studio eager to adapt their podcast into a film. Oliver is all in, but Mabel has concerns about how she will be portrayed and what her legacy will be. Meanwhile, Charles can’t shake a gut feeling that something bad has happened to his best friend, Sazz.
Who Is in Only Murders Season 4?
Aside from the regular crew (those who are still alive, anyway), Season 4 of Only Murders welcomes a Hollywood-clad ensemble, including Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Zach Galifianakis, Melissa McCarthy, Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, and Richard Kind.
