Lost in the Amazon: The Rescue that Shocked the World
On May 1, 2023, a small plane sent a mayday signal before crash landing in Colombia’s vast Amazon rainforest, leaving four siblings -- ages 13, 9, 4, and 11 months -- to survive alone in a remote and inhospitable jungle. This gripping documentary chronicles the desperate 40-day search and joint efforts by the Colombian military and Indigenous groups to bring the siblings to safety. In an operation that captured the world’s attention, the rescuers scoured miles of rough terrain, dropped food by helicopter and used speakers to blast taped messages from family members into the forest. Knowing that the children had only a matter of days to survive, the rescuers could only hope that they would be able to stay alive and find their way home.
