Erroll Babbage (Richard Gere), an agent in the Department of Public Safety, is responsible for keeping an eye on sex offenders. In the three weeks before Erroll's planned retirement, a young girl is abducted. He determines to find her, despite the fact he must also train his replacement, Allison Lowry (Claire Danes).
