In 1977, business-minded manager Edgardo Díaz takes a gamble when he forms the "forever young" boy band Menudo, regularly replacing its members when they aged out of the desired demographic. As the band builds a rabid fan base in Latin America, Díaz’s vision pays off and Menudo becomes a source of pride in a politically turbulent Puerto Rico.

After Menudo's triumphant New York City debut -- which caused a teenage mania the media dubbed "Menuditis" -- the band expands into English-language music, infecting youth culture and bolstering Edgardo Díaz’s empire. As record-breaking performances, a TV show and a merchandise frenzy launch the band's simmering fame into the stratosphere, a run-in with Miami law threatens their wholesome image.

The Menudo empire begins to show cracks amid claims of mistreatment and allegations of sexual abuse. As officials seem to turn a blind eye to the complaints of some parents, the next generation of band members is introduced.
