The Ayotzinapa 43: State Crime
On September 26, 2014, students traveling from the Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers' College were attacked in Iguala, Mexico, leaving six dead and 43 missing. Despite the government's repeated attempts to close the case, an Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI) works to refute their findings – much to the relief of the grieving families. But when the GIEI uncovers new evidence that suggests involvement from high-ranking army officials, their investigation is stonewalled. Ten years later, as the families continue their tireless quest to uncover the truth about their loved ones, this five-part docuseries offers new insights from those most intimately involved – including some who were implicated in the crime.
