The Convict

Judge Alicja Mazur from the Criminal Division of the District Court conducts high-profile cases against organized crime. Privately, she is the mother of 17-year-old Hania and the partner of Paweł Witkowski - the owner of the fashionable nightclub "Amnesia". The day of their wedding crossed her entire life so far. During a party, the body of Ludmila Mielnik, a Ukrainian, Paweł's ex-partner, is found in the toilet. Accused and unjustly convicted of murder, Alicja is sent to a prison. There she meets women whom she herself sentenced to prison. One of them, Kosa, threatens her with death.

The daughter of judge Alicja Mazur - Hanka, cannot cope with hate. When she loses control of her emotions, only Paweł's intervention prevents her dismissal from school. In prison, Alicja tries to talk to Sarah, a young girl who was a waitress at her wedding. Sara may know who framed Alicja for the murder. Unfortunately, access to it is prevented by Kosa, who is at the very top of the prison subculture, and the lifers are ready to meet her every demand. The explosion of the gas cylinder causes the fragment of the ceiling above the closed ward, where both of them are imprisoned, collapses. Kosa goes to the prison hospital, where a burned Alicja soon joins.

Alicja refuses to indicate who mutilated her. The head of the closed ward gives Alicja the long-awaited letter from the court. Unfortunately, attorney Bednarek, who is her attorney in law, submits an appeal too late - the sentence (15 years) becomes final. Now the only solution seems to be to resume the investigation, so Alicja asks for help from her friend - patron Serafin. Through the intercession of a doctor from the prison - Basia, the former judge Alicja is assigned to work in the outpatient clinic. There, she accidentally discovers something that will allow her to survive the next days. Hania, Alicja's daughter, becomes friends with Wiki, a regular visitor at Paweł's nightclub, where she deals in drugs. A teenager changes under her influence.

Alicja tries to find out who framed her for Ludmila's murder. Her options are limited, but Commissioner Cedro appears in prison more and more frequently, investigating the murder of Sara. The presence of the commissioner is a chance to interest him in her case. Knowing the secret of director Dworak, the former judge forces him to access the register of inmates' passes and thus finds key information related to Sara. Alicja looks forward to meeting her daughter, preparing a surprise for her seventeenth birthday. However, at this time, Paweł buys all the expensive gift to his stepdaughter, pushing Hania away from her mother. After hospitalization, Kosa returns to the closed ward. The drugs she was supposed to distribute in the prison have gone missing. With no money for another shipment, she comes up with a shocking idea.

Alicja knows that Sara was not the only prisoner working at Paweł's nightclub during the passes. She also discovered that all the girls spent the night in the same apartment at Garażowa 8. Seraphin manages to interest Commissioner Cedro with this discovery. The police begins to observe Natalia, as well as Wiki, and her frequent visits to Kosa in prison. Alicja is sure that Paweł set her up. She realizes that Hanka lives with Ludmila's murderer and must do everything possible to warn her daughter. The penitentiary manager tries to solve the problem of unwanted pregnancy, while his wife Basia insists on accepting Kosa's proposal.

Alicja desperately fights for her daughter's safety, but Hanka refuses to talk to her. Seraphim also cannot protect the girl from Paweł. The former judge has proof of her innocence almost at hand. The memory card with Ludmila's confession registered, just before the murder, was placed in a prison deposit, from where it is difficult to retrieve it. Wiki is caught trafficking drugs at Paweł's club. Commissioner Cedro exposes it. A teenager is being rescued from oppression by her lover and sponsor - patron Bednarek. Paweł is afraid that the girl will testify.

Alicja manages to get a recording of the murdered Ludmila. This changes the situation and gives her a chance of an acquittal. Attorney Bednarek blames Paweł for the disappearance of Wiki, which makes their further cooperation questionable. Bednarek knows what is happening in the backstage of the "Amnezja" club. The lawyer wants to share his knowledge with Commissioner Cedro. Seraphim has to tell Alicja the truth about her husband's relationship with Hania. Meanwhile, Kosa, on Paweł's orders, is to kill Alicja.

In desperation, Alicja self-harms, which qualifies her for psychiatric observation outside the prison in Zabrze. She has very little time to save her daughter. Seraphim and Cedro finds out about Paweł's true identity and the motives behind his actions. Paweł, threatened with arrest, convinces Hania that they both should leave Poland. Tickets are bought, suitcases are packed. Alicja cannot let that happen. Kosa could play a decisive role in her plan.
