After leaving the Dominican Republic to start anew in Miami, the Castelli family discovers that the American Dream is not so dreamy, as the family figures out how to fit in, make friends and thrive in the 80s.

Cucu finds herself in hot water again, this time for speaking Spanish in school. Víctor and Adela struggle to make good first impressions, while Emilia gets herself into a sticky situation while trying to keep up with The Bubblegums.

Cucu tries to kick-start puberty for herself, Adela gets pulled over for driving like a Dominican, and Emilia, who doesn't like scary movies, accidentally agrees to see a horror movie with the Bubblegum Girls.

The Castelli's experience an episode of American firsts: Cucu's first sleepover, Víctor's first American business dinner, and Emilia's first job.

The Castellis have a tricky first Halloween when Cucu's Dominican grandma shows up. And after Emilia makes a horrifying discovery—her phone number written in the boy's bathroom—the Bubblegums help her get some brujería revenge.

The Castellis engage in cutthroat competitions at school, work, home, and a pool party.

When Víctor's boss assumes he's great at baseball because he's Dominican, he tries to turn himself into the “Santo Domingo Slugger.” Cucu defies the stereotype that girls shouldn't take shop class while Emilia goes against type and takes up drama.

Cucu borrows from an unlikely loan shark, Adela becomes a coupon queen and Víctor and Emilia team up to take down a shady used car salesman.

Love is not in the air when Adela and Víctor attempt to celebrate their wedding anniversary, Cucu accidentally asks out a math nerd, and Emilia stumbles onto a potential romance.

After becoming the target of gossiping cousins who believe the Castelli's are failing in America, the family sets out to prove they're thriving while Emilia dares to stand up to a newfound enemy.
