After Noah (Aldis Hodge) decides on a date to begin the escape, his plan is jeopardized when a tragedy rocks the plantation. Elizabeth (Jessica De Gouw) worries when her ex-fiancé is enlisted to hunt down runaway slaves.

With Rosalee (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and Noah (Aldis Hodge) on the run following her attack on their overseer, the fate of the other escapees depends on Cato (Alano Miller). An escaped slave jeopardizes the Hawkeses' future.

With a reward making their escape more difficult, the runaways look for a new path to freedom. Tom (Reed Diamond) and Suzanna (Andrea Frankle) try to turn Pearly Mae (Adina Porter) against her family and friends.

As the runners commandeer a gunboat-turned-brothel to make their escape, Tom (Reed Diamond) enlists a prominent religious leader to bolster his Senate campaign. John (Marc Blucas) is conscripted into the search for the runaways.
