When Lil Ankh disses his beats yet again, Stephen decides to work with a marketing firm desperate for a song to advertise their morally questionable products. After taking on a wealthy new client, Angela pretends to be rich, while Zuri leaves the scouts and enters the cookie game.
Hoping to make the most of a rare free day, Stephen and Angela pay a visit to their favorite restaurant -- only to find the entire block has succumbed to gentrification. Left to babysit Zuri, Amir convinces his younger cousin to come along on a rule-breaking adventure. Back home, Gigi longs to rekindle the spark after Russell plans a less-than-romantic 30th anniversary date.
When Angela temporarily takes charge of the salon, mounting pressure to be the "cool boss" gets in the way of her goals. After a recording session goes awry, Stephen struggles to get over his creative insecurities. Meanwhile, Zuri finds herself channeling her inner Angela Davis as the leader of a schoolwide revolution.
