In Buenos Aires in 1994, a young Cris walks along the path of ambiguity: a dedicated male dentistry student by day, and at night, she is a magnetic figure at Gaylight, the most emblematic gay nightclub in the city, where she displays all her panache alongside a group of artists, led by her great friend Guille. Approaching her thirtieth birthday, Cris is pressured by her mother to leave the night and assume a life as a man, which would mean burying her artistic dreams forever. However, her luck changes when, with the help of renowned representative Marito Delmonte, Cris is chosen to join as an attraction in the new Maipo theater magazine. By accepting the offer, Cris definitively betrays her mother's mandate.
Supported by her father and brother, and still completely at odds with her mother, Cris debuts in 1995 in the Maipo magazine and her issue causes an immediate sensation. Thus, she begins a life in the world of showbusiness, where she experiences a unique love with Federico, a former male escort and aspiring actor with whom she not only shares work, but also the same desire for fame and success. Given the importance of her issue, the jealousy of Griselda Lamas, the first starlet, soon arrives and endangers Cris's permanence in the magazine. With Marito as her ally and given the inescapable centrality of her figure, Cris proposes to Tano a risky move: to take the place of first starlet and present herself to the world as who she really feels like: Cris Miró.
As her relationship with Federico strengthens, fame enters Cris' life like a hurricane and she is soon invited to the most popular television program in Argentina. However, the stigmatizing comments about her identity do not take long to arrive and Marito proposes to Cris a controversial pact to be massively accepted as a star: she must always appear single and available to any man, always be and look like a lady and stay away from media scandals. With Dorian as her assistant, Cris sets out to make history in the most watched program on Argentine television, while she seeks the approval of her father to take the big media leap. After the program, where Cris publicly denies Federico as the first step of that pact, she receives a tempting offer to star in a comedy as an actress on Corrientes Street.
After a performance at the theater, Cris receives news that completely shakes her: the death of her father. So, she returns to her family home for a few days and faces an unexpected coexistence with her mother, who completely ignores her. Cris takes refuge in Federico's arms, but she soon notices his professional jealousy and his imminent estrangement. After participating as a guest on Susana Giménez's show, where she exhibits the pain over the loss of her father and remembers her doll from her childhood, Cris finally reunites with her mother and they both manage to settle their differences. Thus, Nilda finally decides to let go of the idea of the male child that she always held to embrace her daughter.
Cris travels to Mar del Plata to experience her first theatrical season accompanied by Marito, Federico and Dorian, although tainted by the recurring darts of the press about her lack of bust. In hostess mode, Cris receives her family who is traveling especially to spend the New Year in her comfortable home. At the same time, a sudden business meeting between Federico and a representative from Miami arouses suspicion in Cris and the celebration turns tense. When Cris confirms that Federico has returned to work as a male escort, the fight between them breaks out with no point of return. With heartbreak installed in her life, and in the face of incessant pressure from the media on her image, Cris is determined to get a bust to be and look even more like that lady that the press asks of her.
With a renewed image, Cris enjoys her fame with plenitude, freedom and some excess. But, after a performance at a nightclub, she is attacked by an uncontrollable cough and must be hospitalized for mild pneumonia, generating all kinds of rumors in the press. In the loneliness of that hospitalization, Cris is tormented by the terror of an even more stigmatizing diagnosis. As she finds out that a new trans girl will replace her in the theater, Cris must deal with Marito's insecurities, who for the first time fears for her career. With a positive HIV diagnosis, Cris disarms in the solitude of her room, but she gathers strength and confesses to Sergito. They both reach an agreement: Sergito swears silence before Nilda, while Cris promises to follow the treatment. For her part, Dorian, tormented by her excesses, decides to abandon Cris. Now discharged and recovered, Cris dispels all kinds of rumors before the press stating that she is healthy. Determined to hide the disease, and with Guille as her faithful ally, Cris silently advances with the treatment: she is determined to live.
While she is harassed and stigmatized by the press, the side effects of the treatment threaten Cris' beauty and her health deteriorates significantly. When she is absent from an important meeting with producers interested in her television career, Marito gets angry and all his alarms go off. But she skillfully lies and comes out on top. Taking refuge in Guille's house, Cris learns encouraging news: the police edicts that prevented trans people from moving freely on the streets have been repealed. Deciding to spend a night away from pain and medications, Cris decides to celebrate the good news with her friends and goes out to enjoy the night, trying to recover that spirit of freedom from the past, supported by her community. Upon returning home, Cris discovers a journalist going through her trash and she attacks him, enraged. In the privacy of her room and overcome by fever, Cris debates her future.
Cris launches a parade to celebrate her first ten years of career. Marito accompanies her and tell her about all the projects for the future. While Cris regains unusual vitality and her health seems to improve, she enjoys her renewed family life, with the news of a new nephew to come. On the day of the parade, Cris puts an end to her working relationship with Marito by not being able to continue fulfilling the famous agreement and reveals to him the tragic pact she has made with herself: to die as beautiful as she lived to leave her audience the best memory of her. Thus, Cris says goodbye in her own terms, surrounded by her family, friends and the press, leaving a great legacy for the entire LGBTIQ+ community.
