But as she reluctantly digs into the case, Velma is forced to confront the truth of her own mother's mysterious disappearance, and fend off the advances of her best friend, Norville.

Desperate to access her missing mom's case file, Velma strikes a deal with her former BFF Daphne -- who may just have some secrets of her own. Then, while a sober Norville finds himself in with the wrong crowd, Fred claims innocence for a series of crimes.

When Principal Rogers enrolls all the female students in a self-defense class, Velma and Daphne must work out their complicated relationship on the mat. Meanwhile, Norville vows to get answers from Fred… by any means necessary.

Stuck in the serial killer's underground lair, Fred proves that he really does love women for their brains, while Norville and Gigi work through their relationship problems above ground.

Given 72 hours to uncover the serial killer's identity, Velma is forced to live a lie -- including raising a baby with an increasingly frustrated Norville. Shunned by the Brains, Fred and Daphne face their newfound unpopularity together ... until they hatch a plan to claw their way back to the top.

Despite the alleged murderer's confession, Velma continues to work the case -- and uncovers a shocking clue from her own past.
