When a new adventure takes them to a strange world, the Care Bears have to lean on each other more than ever; through friendship, courage and a little belly badge magic, they continue their mission to spread caring and sharing to the world.
The discovery of an ancient, lost gateway leads the Care Bears on a rescue mission in the Silver Lining, a realm of natural wonders and comical creatures in the clouds beyond the borders of Care-A-Lot. While there, new discoveries expand the mission, challenging Cheer, Grumpy, and the mission team to grow beyond their present abilities and help the denizens of the Silver Lining.
Share fears she's losing her ability as a problem-solver and peacemaker when she can't calm a squabble between a group of Whiffles and a flower bed of Perturbed Petunias. Cheer discovers it's not Share's fault and that the Petunias are being secretly manipulated by Bluster's rumor-mongering.
When Cheer makes some simple mistakes, she begins to lose confidence in her piloting skills and herself. The self-doubt becomes so severe, she decides to step away from her role as pilot of the Cloudseeker. But the Team needs her, the Whiffles need her, and she must regain her self-confidence so they can stop Bluster's latest nefarious scheme.
The Whiffles are too hot and tired to work because their daily treat, colorful ice in Waffles Cones delivered by the whimsical "Icelings," hasn't arrived -- the Icelings have mysteriously disappeared. As the Care Bears search for them, Share volunteers to make the treats. It's much more than she can handle but she's determined to go it alone and not ask for help. Things get out of hand and Share ends up snared in Bluster's trap with the Icelings, who help her to realize that we get more done when we work together.
The team receives a video message from Tenderheart that their mission has successfully ended and they can return home. Cheer suspects something about the message is wrong, but other members of the team don't agree. Cheer courageously stands her ground and keeps the team together while she solves the mystery, and reveals the message was faked by Bluster.
Funshine can't bring himself to tell Cheer he accidentally broke her beloved necklace. His attempts to repair the broken necklace end in failure, so he hides it. When Cheer wrongly thinks Dibble is responsible for the disappearance of the necklace, Funshine knows he must tell her the truth.
The Care Bears are to witness the annual blooming of the Pinata Tree, an ancient event that can only happen if the Keeper of the Tree sees something that makes him giggle. Good Luck's giggle-inducing entertainment act goes awry because he relies on his errant lucky shamrock for success. He must learn to forgo luck and practice his act instead.
Dibble helps Grumpy work on his latest invention, a device to stop Bluster's bad vibe plow. Dibble's endless high spirits and sense of fun wear on Grumpy, until he finally says she can't work with him anymore. It's only later that Grumpy understands he needs Dibble's free-spirit inventiveness and creative energy.
Bluster traps Grumpy in a frustration-inducing labyrinth in an attempt to capture his grumpiness and turn it into the ultimate Bad Seed, which when planted will create new areas of Blusterland. The scheme backfires when Bluster refuses to listen to the warnings of his underlings, and Grumpy's inner kindness turns the Bad Seed into a force for good.
A shy, puny member of the Bad Crowd shows up at the Cloudseeker claiming he's been kicked out of Blusterland for being nice. The Bears, leery at first, take him in despite Grumpy's suspicions that he is in cahoots with Bluster. It appears Grumpy is right -- but thanks to the Care Bears, the little guy turns into a good friend with the courage to thwart Bluster's latest scheme.
The Bears encounter a lost Whiffle whose only word is "Riffle." They have no idea who he is or where he came from. Dibble is tasked with looking out for him until they learn where he lives. At first delighted to have a new playmate, she grows frustrated when he seems only to want to get away. With the aid of the Bears, Dibble helps solve the mystery of who he is and where he belongs.
Dibble misunderstands the Bears' intentions when they secretly make a plush toy Whiffle for her "Un-birthday." Thinking it's real and that the Bears love it more than they love her, she steals it and plans to leave it in the forest. She has second thoughts and returns her "rival" to her friends, only to learn that it's a gift to show their love for her.
When hard-working Cheer exhausts her crew running a string of drills to protect a Whiffle orchard from possible emergencies, Share’s belly badge accidentally creates two Cheer duplicates. Cheer takes a recreation break, unaware that her clones are working Share and the crew -- who think they’re the real Cheer -- even harder.
When Dibble dresses up as a superhero complete with a pretend belly badge, the Whiffles think she's the real thing and need her to confront an imaginary monster that they believe lives in a cave. She bravely enters the cave but loses her courage when she loses the belly badge, until Funshine convinces her that her bravery came from inside her.
The Bears become lost in the Valley of Whispering Winds, where voices whisper in their ears and make them lose faith in themselves. Racing to their rescue, Tenderheart leads them to the only one who knows the antidote to the words of the Winds: a mysterious old bear of great wisdom who teaches them a valuable lesson about listening to your heart.
Dibble plants the seeds of a strange bush outside of its natural environment, unaware that she has unleashed a disaster: The plant multiplies and begins to quickly spread. The Bears must find a way to stop its greedy growth before it crowds out all the other plants in the Silver Lining.
Cheer bonds with a migrating firefly-like creature, called a Sparklewing, who stows aboard the Cloudseeker. The two become good friends, but there's a problem: Sparklewings must finish their migration to bring life-giving nutrients to the fields of the Silver Lining. Cheer's difficult and emotional parting with her new friend is only possible once they both accept that it's for a greater good.
Bluster and his Bad Crowd arrive at a lakeside beach for his summer vacation, unaware that the Care Bears are having their vacation on the opposite shore. Trapped inside Bluster's climate-control dome and forced to spend their vacations together, the Bears must find a way to make friends with their ill-tempered neighbors.
The Care Bears come to the aid of a group of Whiffles whose worries are blanketing their garden with such bad vibes that plants won't grow. When the Care Bear Stare isn't powerful enough to help, Grumpy comes to the rescue with the invention of a robotic Care Bear Stare amplifier.
Grumpy doesn't believe Funshine's warning that an invisible "Big Blob in the sky" is stealing water from a Whiffle garden -- he has pulled too many practical jokes before. To save the garden and his own credibility, Funshine must discover the truth of the menacing "Big Blob."
Malcom becomes the new boss of Blusterland when he tricks Bluster into letting him transfer his inner-badness into a Bad Seed, leaving Bluster a polite shell of his former self. To neutralize the dangerous Seed before Malcom can use it to turn the Silver Lining into a giant Blusterland, the Care Bears must transfer its bad energy back into the only thing that can hold it, Bluster himself!
Funshine learns he can be as fearless as one of his superhero comic book characters when the Team falls into a magical sleep. To awaken them, he must transport them in the Cloudseeker to a special place in the Silver Lining but he has never driven it before and must learn from a comical "How To Pilot the Cloudseeker" video hosted by Grumpy.
On a mission to a remote area of the Silver Lining, Cheer questions the directions from Bedtime's maps. Everyone else backs Bedtime: he's never been wrong before! When the directions turn out to be wrong and lead them into danger, Cheer must trust her instincts to find a way out of the mess.
Frustrated that she's too small to reach even the bottom-most berries on a tree, Dibble becomes the tallest member of the team when a strange cloud of magical fog shrinks the Care Bears to miniature size. To save them, she must race against time to get them to a reversal-fog that will return them to their normal size.
When Dibble loses her beloved playball, the Care Bears are shocked to discover it has been taken by the Keeper, a mysterious figure who collects and stores away all items lost in the Silver Lining. To regain possession of the ball, the Bears and Dibble must help the Keeper recover a loss of his own.
While observing an ancient Whiffle ritual, Grumpy accidentally steps on a sentient plant. When his apology sends the plant and Whiffles into an upset, Share helps him learn how to genuinely apologize from his heart, and that a real apology is about how the other person feels, not about yourself.
When Grumpy mysteriously loses his blue color in a far-off area of the Silver Lining, the Bears track down the cause: a creature called the Painter has lost the key to the magical paintbox that creates all the color in the area. Grumpy must recover the key to restore his blueness.
The Care Bears try to capture the Klatternack, a comical creature whose non-stop nonsense is annoying the local Whiffles. The Bears are joined by the ultra-serious Tracker, who has long been after the Klatternack himself. But despite their combined efforts, the wily creature continues to elude them -- until Share realizes there is more going on than meets the eye.
Expert skateboarder Funshine tries to duplicate the in-the-groove fun Dibble has when she rides her little cloud like a skateboard, but he discovers along the way that having fun isn't always about a better skateboard or riding a cloud, it can be about trying harder at something and finally succeeding.
When Grumpy replaces mission navigator Good Luck with a computerized navigational gadget, Good Luck feels useless -- until he saves the Valley of the Shamrocks and is proclaimed a hero by the Whiffles, who don't want him to leave. He is torn between staying with the Whiffles and remaining with the Bears.
While the Bears are transporting a Whiffle Wizard to a distant meadow, Good Luck seems to have a run of bad luck. His belief in his own bad fortune causes him to lose confidence, causing ever more "bad luck." It's only when he understands that we make our own luck that his "luck" changes.
Two mischievous Whiffle kids come to play with Dibble, forcing Cheer to put her important work on hold to manage them. When she finds her "managing kids" skills lacking and her important work in jeopardy, she uses her skills as a leader to get the kids working as a team to help her complete her work while having fun at the same time.
Disappointed when his friends don't laugh at his jokes, Funshine encounters the Laffinpuff, a magical comedian who grants Funshine's wish to make everyone think he's funny. But Funshine realizes it's no fun being funny when people laugh at everything he says, whether he means it to be funny or not. To get the wish rescinded, he must face the Laffinpuff in a grueling ordeal of slapstick humor.
The Bears investigate the mysterious transformation of a tropical valley into a winter wonderland of snow. To return it to its natural state, Funshine must follow Dibble's example and give up something he wanted for himself, just as Bluster and his bad crowd invade Care-A-Lot! They're determined to steal the Care-O-Meter and stop the Care Bears' mission of caring and sharing. To foil his plan, the Bears must rely on an unlikely ally.
