Abominable and the Invisible City

The pilot episode of this adults-only animated series is about a dead CIA hitman named Al Simmons, who makes a deal with the devil to return to his wife Wanda. But the devil transforms him into 'hellspawn,' a dark warrior who battles the forces of evil on the earth -- and in himself -- to uncover the truth about his identity and fulfill his destiny.

After the death of his three henchmen, mob boss Tony Twist sends a new trio to the alley. A CIA official attempts to blackmail a senator into running for president. Spawn wins the respect of the derelicts in the alley and seeks the counsel of Cogliostro, a sage old man who warns Spawn not to waste his power -- and to make the right choices before time runs out.

A battle in the alley with a cyborg named Overkill forces Spawn to retrieve some of Al Simmons's old "tools of his trade" from a CIA compound. After a shootout, Spawn eliminates Overkill and forces an alliance with Twist. CIA assassin Jess Chapel gets an overseas assignment and remembers his role in the fiery death of his onetime partner Al Simmons.

Mob boss Tony Twist sends an underling to Rome to apologize for Overkill's death. A gorgeous hell-spawn hunter named Angela comes into play. Wanda gets evidence exonerating her client, who was jailed as a serial child killer and tries to find out who's protecting the true killer. CIA chief Wynn sees Spawn on a tape of Overkill's death, then visits Twist and drops off a gruesome gift.

A grenade-toting preacher named Cain holds a mute boy hostage, and Spawn is pressed into action. Senator McMillan gets a call from Wynn -- someone's been hacking into government files and may have accessed info about kid-killing ice cream man Billy Kincaid. As a result, Wanda's daughter Cyan is abducted. Spawn saves the mute boy, but can he save Cyan from Kincaid?
